On 24th February 2022 Russia launched a “special military operation” against Ukraine, with reports estimating tens of thousands of deaths on both sides, and millions being forced to flee into neighbouring countries to seek safety and security. One year on, Lieutenant-colonel (FR-A) (Retired) Vincent Arbaretier will reflect on the lessons Europe has learnt from the operation.
Three main topics will be explored:
● Firstly, on both political and strategic levels, namely the consequences on the European Defence Agency;
● Secondly, on an operational level, namely on the Logistical, Intelligence, Command and Control organisations;
● And last but not least, the tactical issues and constraints as lessons learned from a high intensity warfare.
